INNOVATION IN VALUE CHAINS FOR FOOD AND NUTRITION SECURITY

Innovation and the increased use of technology will be critical to doubling the agricultural production that is needed to meet global food demand by 2050. From small-holder farmers to consumer behaviour, this level of innovation must carry through the entire food system, from the sourcing of raw materials, to processing and packaging, to changing consumption patterns.

Urbanisation, population growth, climate change, public health concerns, amongst many others, are all material factors which present challenges for our food security. Tackling food safety, which has an unwavering impact on human, economic and social development, requires collaboration through knowledge, skills and innovative financing to promote inclusive sustainable business models.

The 6th Responsible Business Forum on Food & Agriculture, to be held in Bangkok, will convene over 400 food, agriculture and nutrition decision makers from companies, governments, financial institutions and NGOs. Delegates will share their knowledge and ideas, and partake in focused working groups to cultivate innovative solutions.

Global food demand is forecast to double by 2050. Meeting this need equitably and sustainably will require innovation throughout the entire food system, from the sourcing of raw materials to processing and packaging, to the evolution of consumption patterns and waste.
