Akmal Siddiq is the Chief of Rural Development and Food Security Thematic Group in the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department, Asian Development Bank (ADB), Manila, Philippines. He leads new initiatives in the ADB operations and coordinates knowledge managements and outreach. He is a natural resource economist with extensive experience in sustainable development. He has processed and administered large number of loan and technical assistance projects and contributed to country strategies and sector work over his 20-year career at ADB. He has worked on water, coastal, and wetlands resources management; livestock development and disease control; forest plantations; and fruit and vegetable development and value chain projects in Pakistan, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Lao PDR, Viet Nam, and People’s Republic of China.
