Rachel established Malawi’s first innovation hub and incubator; mHub in 2013. The hub has trained over 8000 youths with digital and entrepreneurial skills Through the hub, over 160 youthful innovators and entrepreneurs have been nurtured and incubated to develop sustainable innovative solutions. The hub itself is a technology startup that has developed over 20 innovative technology platforms. Rachel is also the Founder of Earth Energy, a company that seeks to use biomass to generate energy for rural communities in Malawi; where only less than 10% of the population are connected to the electric grid.
Rachel is a PhD Candidate in Computer Science at Rhodes University in South Africa. She is Malawi’s Ambassador to the Next Einstein Forum. In 2016, Rachel was listed by FORBES as one of Africa’s most promising young entrepreneurs under 30. Rachel has received prestigous awards from Google, World Youth Forum and the Common Wealth Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa. In 2018, she was the winner of the pan African challenge to Invention and Innovation awarded by the Next Einstein Forum.
