Chief Executive
Fundudzi
25 - 27 JUNE 2018, SOUTH AFRICA
Craig Jacobs believes our search for truth is leading us to a new sense of consciousness, impacting our tastes, our interests and the way we live. In 2004 Jacobs founded Fundudzi by Craig Jacobs, arguably Africa’s very first ethical and sustainable label. With its mantra, Clothing with a conscience, the label is inspired by the sacred lake of the Venda who believe you can hear their ancestors drumming beneath its waters at night. Fundudzi is a conduit to re-tell African stories while returning to the ethical and sustainable principles at the heart of African civilization. The ready-to-wear offering has opened up a new path of connections and expertise for Jacobs, who engages regularly in the African retail and design landscape, working on projects across South Africa, Mozambique, Botswana and Angola. Testament to the success of Fundudzi was when he was honoured to provide the closing address for the 2015 World Retail Congress Africa, where he was asked to tell the story of how he created an African heritage brand in a little over a decade.
