Angus Kelly was born in rural South Carolina and spent his boyhood in the American South, Australia, and Scotland. He earned degrees in Agribusiness and History from North Carolina State University. Angus studied French at the Alliance Française in Paris and History at the University of Malta. More recently, he studied at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, the Collège d’Europe in Belgium, and INSEAD in France.
In 2003, Angus served for two years in the U.S. Peace Corps in West Africa. There, he worked with the Ministry of Agriculture in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, partnering with farmers to combat malnutrition and improve productivity. Returning to the U.S., Angus worked in agribusiness in the Carolinas. Later, he joined the Cotton Council in Washington, D.C. as a lobbyist. In 2007, he joined the Syngenta office in Washington D.C. He was Director of Federal Affairs for the U.S. defending the company’s employees and farm customers.
In 2012, he was named Senior Advisor to European Union Public & Government Affairs based in Brussels and in 2015 became Head of External Communications & Public Affairs for Europe, Africa & Middle East. More recently, Angus was responsible for Syngenta Corporate Affairs in Hawaii.
Today, Angus heads Business Sustainability for Africa Middle East. He and his wife live in England.
