The majority of company employees believe that business sustainability is “mandatory”, according to a survey conducted by technology company HP. The company surveyed 20,000 people around the world and found that 61 per cent believe that businesses must emphasise sustainable practices throughout their operations. More than half agreed that ignoring environmental impacts in the work place “is as bad as diversity and inclusion”, while 46 per cent said that they would only work for companies with sustainable business practices.

The survey also found that workers in companies who prioritise sustainability tend to be more engaged and positive about their employers. Six out of ten respondents agreed that “sustainability is key to engaging the workforce of the future”, the company said, while 96 per cent of respondents who feel that their company is ahead of the curve on sustainability would recommend their workplace to others.
