ITU (International Telecommunication Union) estimates that there are 250 million fewer women than men that access the Internet.

Information and communication technologies (ICTs) are tools through which gender equality and women’s empowerment can be advanced, and are integral to the creation of societies in which both women and men can substantively contribute and participate.

ITU is working to ensure gender equality in ICTs: International Girls in ICT Day inspires and empowers girls to seize opportunities in the ICT sector.
