Cheri Scholtz

Chief Executive
PETCO

Currently the CEO of PETCO, Cheri Scholtz has been involved with the organisation since incorporation in 2004, and has seen it grow from a small industry-based initiative to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development and extended producer responsibility, to a leading example in its field globally.

Cheri represents the PET sector on the Board of Packaging South Africa together with colleagues from all the packaging streams including glass, paper, cans, cartons and other polymers and she has served on the Plastics|SA Sustainability Council as its first Chair. Sustainability is one of six core functions of Plastics|SA, providing strategic leadership to the industry on sustainability issues, consistent with the revised vision for that organisation. It is guided by stakeholders working together under the banner of the ‘Sustainability Council’.

Cheri also represents the PET industry at the European Recycling and Recovery Organisation (EPRO) of which PETCO is an affiliate member, at the Global Alliance for Recycling and Sustainable Development (GARSD) and most recently on the Global Product Stewardship Council Advisory Group.

Prior to PETCO, Cheri Scholtz established Co-ordinators Advertising and Public Relations, and worked on many projects across different sectors for fifteen years.

After re-locating to Cape Town twenty years ago, Cheri represented the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa on the Board of Cape Town Tourism.
