Claus Stig Pedersen

Head of Corporate Sustainability & EMEA Public Affairs Novozymes

Claus Stig Pedersen has been professionally engaged in sustainability for more than 25 years.

One of the pioneers in the development of LCA methodologies and sustainability concepts for business, he has been driven by the vision of combining “good for the world” with “good for business”. As Head of Corporate Sustainability & Public affairs, he lives that vision every day. He is currently also Liaison Delegate to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and he represents Novozymes in the UN Global Compact LEAD initiative.

Claus has been engaged with the development of the UN Global Goals since its start at RIO+20 in 2012 and has worked to align Novozymes’ Corporate Purpose and Strategy into the direction set by the SDGs. Launched in January 2015, Novozymes’ new Purpose and Partnering for Impact strategy puts the SDG agenda directly into heart of Novozymes’ core business and its innovation pipeline. It is setting a direction for commercial growth. Claus and his team have developed a strategic framework for business development and innovation based on the global goals – being the first company to communicate their sustainability efforts according to the SDGs, while aligning core business accordingly. In June 2016 Claus was recognized for he´s SDG leadership work by being named SDG Pioneer by the UN Global Compacts, announced by H.E. Ban Ki Moon.
