David is the Representative to Southeast Asia for the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). He oversees IRRI’s research agenda in the region and works closely with national governments to ensure alignment with national priorities for agriculture, health, nutrition, economic development and environmental sustainability. David has worked on improvements in agriculture and natural resources management in Asia, Africa and Central America. His research focuses on improving management practices for rice-based systems including sustainability, pest management and linking farmers to markets. David holds a Doctorate in agricultural systems, and he has published more than 80 refereed articles.
