Forests cover 30.7 per cent of the Earth’s surface and, in addition to providing food security and shelter, they are key to combating climate change, protecting biodiversity and the homes of the indigenous population.

Established by APRIL Group in 2013, the Restorasi Ekosistem Riau (RER) is a collaborative project that brings together private and public sectors to protect and restore ecologically important peat forest on Indonesia’s Kampar Peninsula and Padang Island. Managed under the ecosystem restoration licenses from the Government of Indonesia, the RER team work to protect, assess, restore and manage 150,000 hectares of peat forest in Riau province.
