Here is the story of Hetdi, who farms coffee in Indonesia’s Lake Toba Region, where farmers have cultivated coffee for generations. Although they play a key role in coffee cultivation, processing and marketing, women are often excluded from training and other development opportunities. Louis Dreyfus Company works women coffee farmers in Indonesia by imparting sustainable agricultural practices to help increase their yields and incomes. Improving women’s economic resilience and building adaptive capacity to climate change also fosters long-term sustainability of rural livelihoods and coffee supply.
